Hmm, we have a couple of SDL1 using apps in the repo which require the SDL1 version of SDL_sound and the SDL2 version of SDL_sound comes with a whole new soname which would break those.

It seems to me that this really should be a new SDL2_sound package, just like we have both SDL_image and SDL2_image.

If you can submit the more or less new package which you've created for this pull-req as a package-review (under the SDL2_sound name) then I would be happy to review it.
