    Run the upstream tests to help catch issues which might occur due to a
    newer git release, for example.
    
    A number of tests do fail without upstream commit 838bdd1 (Update
    expected test data for git 2.35, 2022-03-06); apply that patch on Fedora
    where all releases have git >= 2.37.
