Resolve FTBFS in the testsuite caused by modern automake
    
    - Rewritten the patches so that autoreconf isn't needed any more
      Fixes a regression in the testsuite caused by changed behavior in modern automake
    - Re-enabled the testsuite for all targets
    - Don't use the %makeinstall macro any more
